    Confused with CALORIES!
    I am a little confused with calories. I am calorie counting but when I look at some packages there is Calories and Fat Calories What is the difference? And when you are counting do you add the 2 together to come up with the actual total calories or are the fat calories part of the regular calories?

    Any info you can give is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

    A fat calorie is the calories from fat, specifically. Calories can come from protein, carbs or fat. So a fat calories is exactly what it says. Fats are calorically more dense that protein or carbs, for instance; 1 gram of fat has 9 calories, while carbs and protein have 4 calories per gram. So when it comes to calories and fat calories, You don't add the two together, The nutritional label is is simply telling you how many calories you will be getting strictly from the fats, in that food. What I would suggest is getting familiar with the nutritional labels, as you seem to be doing, because these labels show the daily requirement for each nutrient the food has for what your body needs, based on 100% of the daily requirements. When you see for instance 5% DV; this is a low value and very good, if your see 20% or higher DV in the area of fats, saturated fat, cholestrol or sodium this is a high percentage and I would suggest making another food choice or not eating very much of this food.
