    Soft purplish lump
Is it possible to have infected ingrown hairs on the female genitalia if there are soft purplish bumps along the bikini line? It started small then went away then came back higher along my bikini line then recently another smaller looking bump has appeared slightly lower. If anyone could help me out, that would be great as this topic is extremely odd since I have never had an STD, always use protection and know my boyfriend does NOT have any sort of infection. I am experiencing no symptoms (ie itching, burning, redness, swelling, puss, discharge) and it is not going away (it has been present for about a month now).

Please tell me it's not HIV; I looked on another site and it gave a description that HIV can be purple lumps..

This is pretty scary and any help would be greatly appreciated!

It wouldn't be HIV, with HIV what you are seeing is called Koplick's Spots, that happens when the virus is very well advanced. You would have had other symptoms, and most likely been diagnosed with HIV by the time Koplick's Spots develop.

Now, about STDs... Condoms do not protect 100% the spread of STDs such as genital herpes or genital warts if they are not covered by the condom itself. For instance, if he had herpes on the groin area, not the penis, and you were exposed to the groin but the penis was covered by a condom... it's still possible to spread the herpes virus.

With that said, it is also possible for one person to spread the herpes virus even when there is not a breakout.

It could be an ingrown hair or possibly a boil, but the only way to know for sure is to have it examined by your doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment.

My eight week old daughter has a small purple bump that comes out of her soft spot. I have brought her to her pediatrician and all he said was that it may just be extra skin and that we will keep a eye on it. I really do not think it is extra skin because you can phycally move the bump? Any ideas.
