Is debt settlement organizations really helpful
I have found myself in deep financal trouble. Being unable to meet my monthly obligations I read I believe in suze ormans book 'women and money' that one should seek out debt settlement help when in my situation. I looked on the BBB site for honest companies and called one. I have started my payments and now I am getting calls from lawyers stating that I am being taken to court by businesses I owe too. I don't know what to do. I can barely pay my rent and necessities. What can I do?? I work full time and attend college at night. Do I give up my future for a better job and get a second job or keep reaching for my goal??

How did lawyers get your number after you started your payments? Did you enter into an agreement for debt settlement that is fair and affordable?

First companies do not have to agree to debt settlement. So with that said, if you are in default, of course they can sue you. And if they do and get a judgement, they can do what actions are legal and allowed in your state, including garnishment and attachment of bank accounts.
