Maple Chase #9600 Heating and Air Conditioning
I changed out the batteries and now I can't get it to turn back on. The inside instructions say to check the fuse but I don't know how to check a fuse... how do I know if it needs replaced. The fuse was fine before I changed out the batteries. Help.

It should be a small glass cartridge fuse on the circuit board inside the thermostat. It may or not be replaceable. If you DO find the fuse and it comes out, take it to Radio Shack or the local electronic parts house and have them match it up for you.

In an emergency (and throwing care aside) you can wrap the old fuse with a chewing gum wrapper or tin foil for emergency use until a replacement fuse can be found. If you DO choose this method, watch the thermostat closely, and turn it off if you leave the home, as Maple Chases tend to be unpredictable even when they're running "properly". Also be advise that a short in the stat may take out the fuse (or transformer if no fuse) in the furnace as well.

Personally, I don't care for the Maple Chase brand as they are cheap, have no support, and are completely devoid of quality in almost every way. If my mother were posting this, I would advise her to go (quickly!) and get a Honeywell branded thermostat.

    I hope this helps you.

Maple Chase Heating System--How does it work [ 1 Answers ]

We just moved into a house with a Maple Chase heating system and cannot figure out how to use it. When it comes on, it won't turn off for hours--how do you control it? We don't know if it should be set in auto/man, and if the fan should be set for auto or on.
