Semi-permanent not washing out
Okay. I'm a little miffed, because I spent 30 minutes typing this already and the freakin' site logged me out when I tried to submit. So here it goes again...
I have medium to dark blonde hair. Fine, just above my shoulders. I haven't done anything to it in eons. Hightlights etc. all grown out, until this past fall I tried lowlights at home. Couldn't tell I did anything. The lowlights must have been the same as my natural color. Not even I could tell any difference. Fast forward. The day after Christmas I used Loreal Color Pulse in Funky Cherry. Supposed to wash out in 8-10 washings. I wasn't worried since my hair has not been lightened. It says the product is okay to use on colored hair, just not lightlighted hair. Anyway, it looked great in the beginning, just what I thought but faded really quick with the first 2 or 3 washings. Which is fine. If I wanted permament, I would have bleached and used Manic Panic or something. But now it looks like I am stuck with a left over reddish pinky tint to my hair. It's not horrible, but I was counting on this being temporary. Anyway, I spent last night reading all the posts here on hair. So today I ran out and bought Prell and a Loreal color remover. After reading the instructions on the color remover I thought I better ask for advice before I screw up my hair versus after. :) I was planning to use the Prell and if no difference then use the remover right after. However, the color remover says to use on hair that hasn't been washed in two days! That's not going to happen with my oily hair. Does that really matter? More importanly it says to not use on semi-permanent hair color. You speak of this orangey look once stripped, but since I did not "officially" lighten or change my hair will I get that result? Or will it just remove the pink? Should I use this or will it make a bigger mess? I would rather not have to permanently dye my hair blonde afterward to cover up orange or brassiness. I'm just hoping to get rid of the pinkish tone. But I would rather wait it out than melt my hair. You have said that reds fade faster than anything else. :) Does that count for pink? A semi-permanent hair is designed to last through several shampoos. However, this may not be the case for people who have blonde hair. Blonde hair or chemically lightened hair may be extremely porous and can act as a sponge, grabbing the color molecules for an extended period. So a semi-permanent color can become permanent on blonde hair or color-treated hair.
If you use a hair color remover, it will alter your hair's natural state, making it raw and brassy. Try using dish detergent or a clarifying shampoo to help strip away the color. If these methods don't work, you will need to do a corrective color. A dark blonde hair color with a green base will neutralize the reddish pink tinge in your hair. But you should you let a hair stylist or someone that is experienced in hair coloring do the coloring process to avoid any unpleasant shades. |

Thank you PrettyLady. That is what I was looking for. I will try the Prell and clarifying shampoos etc. If that fails I will live with it for a while. If it never goes away or I get sick of it I will go to a professional to have it fixed. Ihave pretty nice hair so I wouldn't want to melt it or damage it. Thank you for your time!

I've tried prell before and it does strip the colour but it's a bit harsh!
I went to the hairdresser today and she advised me to use redken cleansing shampoo(white bottle) and to apply a small amount in the shower, wash out, then apply again and leave in for 20 minutes and wash out again! Goodluck!x |

Hi I did the same as you awhile ago in the holls when I wnet bk to college I asked my hairdressing tutor what to do because I had tried differnet shampoos he told me that if I wantd to go back blonde I would have to bleach my hair and then dye it the blonde I want. Iwould advise you to get it done at a salon rather than you do it, if you decide to do that
