What can I do about my navel piercing growing to the side?
I got my navel pircing done almost 3 months ago now. There a number of things wrong and I'm not sure what to do about it or if it's supposed to be like that!

First thing and the most important one. The bar is leaning to one side. (wonky) and I don't understand why!? There is a sort of lump thing to the side, I'm not sure if was there before though lol! What should I do about it?

It also still hurts at time but its not too bad. It is still red.

I have run out of the cleaning stuff that the piercing place gave me. Due to the fact I was so scared it would get infected right at the beginning so I used it quite a lot. Ive been using boiling water and with lots of salt. It has made a little difference but not too much!! What else could I use? And were could I buy it from?

I would really apprciate your help!

3% peroxide from the drug store will keep it clean until it heals. Just dab it on from time to time, after you shower, before going to bed, in the morning.

It sounds to me like it is migrating. You need to go have a doctor or a piercer take a look at it. If it is in fact migrating, the only thing you can really do is take it out and let it heal.

You say you are using "lots of salt", that is not good. Too much salt will do more harm than good and could cause severe irritation in the piercing. I do not recommend using salt at all, but if you must, keep the usage to a minimum. All you really need to use is antibacterial soap once a day.

The bump could very well be caused by the amount of salt you are using to clean your piercing, or by other things such as playing with it too much, touching it with dirty hands, changing the jewelry too much, etc.

Any time you touch your piercing you need to make sure that your hands are clean. If they aren't, you are putting loads of bacteria right into your piercing. If you have a habit of playing with it, stop. Piercings are meant to decorate your body, not to be used as a toy. Make sure you wear long shirts so they do not get caught on the piercing.

Good luck and make sure you talk to a doctor or a piercer! :)
