Changed shower handle cant get hot water now
I changed the shower handle in the bath tub. Ever since I change the handle, I cannot get the hot water back to the position or even to get hot enough water back. Is there a position in which the handle has to go back. Can someone help. Thank you. Linda

Did you just change the handle itself or did you replace a cartridge or mixing valve too? Most handles are now made so they can't be put in wrong but older ones can be slightly rotated and still installed. If this turns out to be your situations just remove the valve and rotate it a few degrees and reinstall. If the cartridge was installed and its only the hot that is not working it may be crud that broke loose and is now catch in the valve. Check your arearots while you are at it.

It is an older handle, but when you take the screw off, you just have the stem. Someone said it might just have some build up and might be clogged. So I guess I just want to say. I just changed the handle and put a new screw in. Does the stem have anything to do with it? It does come out luke warm but that is about it. Thanks for your response and hope you could answer this one. LInda

I had the same problem with mine and what my trouble was is that I bought a new handle that fit but because it wasn't the same model handle as the model of valve it didn't work couldn't get real hot water and the knob was in the wrong position. To fix it I went to a web site that just answer questions about plumbing and they said make sure that the handle you get is the right handel to match the valve. Mine was a moen so I got a moen handel for my model and now it warks fine just like new.
