Problems with sediment in the well water
OK, This is question. What causes fine grey particals to build up in my well water? This is so fine that it can go threw sand filters but then it cloggs a house filter of all kinds within 20 minutes for some and 1 week for others. It is burning up my pressure realease switch for the well pump becasuse it is clogging the water lines. We can not keep that heavy metal round cap on the opening to the well head caseing because at times pressure builds up and causes the cap to blow off and up aprox. 10 feet and better into the air. When it does this it sounds like a bomb going off. We are stumped and would like to know the cause and how to fix it permantly. Temp fixes only last for so long.

I'm no well expert, but I have had the same problem. What I've done to reduce the amount of sediment was to run both outdoor water faucets at full on for a few hours. This normally reduces the sediment in my system dramatical. Hope this helps your situation.

I have asked to have this moved to plumbing. The blowing the cap off sounds like a lack of a vent. Check the cap for a clogged or plugged vent.

The particles could be surface water contamination.

You might describe your system better, type of pump, pitless adapter orwell seal, type of casing, etc.
