    Roaring Plumbing Pipes
The pipes in my basement are roaring! The pipes vibrate during the roaring. It starts at about 11:00 PM and lasts until around 3:00 AM. The roaring ceases if I turn on a faucet. Does anyone know what causes this?

I had a similar problem once and I found my kitchen faucet was turned on slightly, when I turned it off the noise stopped. This doesn't explain it happening between 11 and 3 but I thought I let you know what happened to me. Jim

This is a home that was built back in the late 60's/early 70's. Initially the first thing I noticed is with the basement toilet. It sounded like it was flushin' or refillin' on it's own.
