My prizm cranks but won't start
Ok all, here's a brief history of what has been going on with this car. 1994 geo prizm 1.6L had it 2 years with no problems till now. Drove 3 miles to the store and it died going over RR tracks. Couldn't get it cranked again so called someone to get me and when they got there it cranked right up. Headed back home with it got about 100 yards or so and it died again. After several tries it cranks and as long as it idles is fine but hit the gas and it dies so we idle it almost home and it dies and won't crank back up so we push it. Change the fuel filter and it cranks, runs good, gets a mile up the road dies and won't crank again so again we push it home. Then we change the fuel pump again it cranks runs good for a while drive it up the road about a 1/4 mile or so and again it dies and won't crank. Again we push it home. We have also changed the starter relay, and the EFI relay and now it turns over but won't crank at all. We changed the gas and checked for fire all is well there and we are stumped. Does anyone out there have any idea what might be wrong?

    . Check for codes.

. Test all under-dash and under-hood fuses with a test light or multimeter:

. Test/replace the Ignition Control Module--AutoZone can do this for free. Here's what it looks like:

While we find your parts, please enter your ZIP Code at PartsAmerica.com

. Test/replace the ignition coil--AutoZone can do this for free.

. Ensure spark plugs, spark plug wires, rotor, and distributor cap are in good shape.

. Check fuel pressure and fuel pressure regulator.

You wouldn't happen to know where the ignition module is on a Prizm would you. Can't seem to find it. Thankx.

It may be inside the distributor.

Put a new coil in the dist. you're losing secondary spark.

OK guys here we go again. The coil is fixed and working great butttttt, for some reason I can't seem to go any faster than 50. It will not go any faster no matter how far you put your foot in the accelerator. When you are climbing a hill it actually goes slower. Any ideas anyone.

You should also test the ICM, as originally suggested.

Tried already nobody would test it off the car. Auto zone did not have the proper connections and no one else would, so I guess my next step is to take it to the very expensive mechanics. No offense but you guys are way more expensive than DIY... :)
    Thanks again...

If you had the dist out, then it may just need to be re timed. Sounds like it's severely retarded.
