    Laptop windows flicker
I have a Compaq M700 laptop that I've been using for the past 3 years. It has really been a workhorse for me in spite of it only having 256 megs of ram and a PIII. I had windows 2000 on it, which it ran OK, but then had an issue that, when I went to any web browser, it would flicker between min and max view quickly. I thought maybe it was Internet Explorer, but it wasn't. I thought it might have been an issue with Windows 2000, but it isn't as I installed Linux. Any ideas?

It wasn't just in explorer, but in any applet that used a browser interface such as control panel. While I stated in my original statement it happened in Linux, (Mandriva 2008), I have now put Fedora 2007 on the laptop with no similar issues.

As to your point about using more programs, I have ran Windows 2000 with Outlook, IE, word, and other programs with no problems. Quite a feat with only 256 megs with no issues. This issue came up relatively recently, I re-installed Windows 2000, with no change, installed Mandriva Linux(dearly loved) and now I have Fedora... I do like, it is very stable, but not as driver friendly as Mandriva.
