Well next door neighbors, see if there is a local or city historical society.
Also not sure how deeds are there but in the US, they will go back for 100's of years often, so you can find the names of past owners, with that, you can go to local news papers and do searches for those names

In the U.S. we have what are called Abstracts that are records of the buying and selling of the property where a home is located. They might go all the way back to before a house was even built on the land where the home is currently located. Perhaps they also have Abstracts in Australia? I'm not sure.
If there are such things as Abstracts where you live, then places to start looking might be a bank that might hold the mortgage or maybe an attorney that was used when purchasing the home. The bank or an attorney might be retaining an Abstract or something similar to it.
Other resources might also be neighbors who have lived in your neighborhood for great lengths of time. I have an elderly neighbor who has lived on our court for over 50 years. She can tell me the history about all of the homes in our court from the time that she began residing in her home.
A historical society and/or a public library might also have historical records concerning your home.

You are welcome!
Another thing that I just thought of would be to look down at the bottom of this page for links to questions that have been similar to yours and then clicking on the links to see what the answers have been.
There are also some resources on the following link which might be helpful to you. Researching the History of a Home - Google Search
Happy Holidays to you, too! :)
