    I am on soc. Sec & ssi.I am currently paying mortgage pmts.I am behind on my UNSECURED personal loan & some credit cards due to me being hospitalized & lack of money.Can my soc. Or sssi be garnished or my home get forclosed or lien or judgement against it? My kids rceived their father's socurity. My total monthly income is 1500.00 but my debt is $25000.00.would I be better to file ch.7.but if I file ch.7 how will I be able to keep from losing my home that I am current with my mortgage pmt?

    First its not a good idea to piggyback your question on someone else's. This can lead to confusion. You should start a new thread. So I've moved your question to its own thread.

    Your home can definitely be foreclosed if you default on your mortgage. However, it is unlikely a lien can be attached to it from unsecured debt. Your SS payments are exempt form garnishment except by the IRS.

    I would meet with a bankruptcy atty, most will give you a free consultation.

    You don't have to be in default on your mortgage payments to file Chapter 7 or 13. Whether you loose your home may depend on whether you have equity in the home. If you file Chapter 7, you need to be current with your payments.

    Generally Social Security and SSI are exempt from garnishment. But, in the event of a judgment, you could still have a lien placed on your home or other real assets. Bankruptcy may be your best option. You can reaffirm your mortgage in order to keep your home.
