    Headaches and Bleeding
For the past few years I've been getting horrible headaches and sometimes migraines. These headaches last a minimum of 2 days and the longest I've had one was 12 days straight. Lately, I've been getting migraines more frequently, I've had 3 in the last week. The first one and the second one it got really bad, and then I suddenly started bleeding for both. I brushed it off not worrying but yesterday I got another migraine and again it started to bleed. It's always out the left nostril too. I've also noticed that when it's done bleeding, there seems to be a relieved pressure on my head. Even today I can still feel a dull pain on the back of my head. The bleeding happened at school yesterday and no one seemed to be worried but me and my friend. Is this something to worry about or should I just let it go?

    Thanks,
    Nick

    Nick,

You need to have this checked out by a doctor. I don't know your age, but you posted in Child & Teen Health, so it is safe to assume you are young.

Migraines can and do happen during the teen years due to an upsurge in hormones. Nose bleeds are common especially this time of year due to the dry air, and your mucous membranes drying out.

HOWEVER, bleeding in conjunction with a migraine (especially of this magnitude) is something that needs to be checked out by your health care provider. Please have your mother or father make a doctor's appointment for you.

I asked my mom yesterday she said she would. And I am 14. She also said that I shouldn't worry, and then said something about hormones causing this but I don't know.

Also, I don't know if this helps at all but, when I do get headaches, they're literally everywhere, I can feel it in my head, my eyes, my ears, my neck especially. I do wear glasses but I'm farsighted an only need them for the computer, reading, etc.

As I said, it is common in teens due to hormones (just like your mom said). I'm just a little curious about the epistaxis (nosebleeds) along with the migraines, and the length and intensity of the migraine.

Make sure she makes you a doctor's appointment on Wednesday.

They're usually long. It starts a dull pain, then it starts at the top of my head, moves down to my eyes, then my neck, my ears, and just gets worse and worse from there on. I can start to feel the pain coming back right now its already in my eyes. She said she would make me one I think I'll go remind her right now.
