Craftsman lawn tractor leaks fuel into exhaust
I have a Craftsman yard tractors, model 917241141 Kohler 16.5 turbo pro, it seems to be dumping fuel into the cylinder when I attempt to start it. This locks up the cylinder until keep trying to start itm then the fuel spills out through the exhaust and it starts with a lot of smoke. I also noticed that if I push the tractor out of the garage it makes the fuel dump in as well.

Its only recent that this has started, I have to place a old blanket on th ground under the exhaust when I start it because it blows fuel out.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

If I was too guess, I would see if main jet fell out. Happened to me one time On a Kawasaki 500 Mach III(Widow Maker). 1 of the 3 exhaust was putting raw furl out of exhaust. Main jet was sitting in the bottom of float bowl. Also check float not hanging.

You must also check the oil level. If you are overfilled on the dipstick, you have a fuel and oil mixture in the crankcase and your engine will not survive long like that. Check the level, change the oil and filter after you repair the carb. If the needle vavle is in place you need to clean the complete fuel system. This includes a new filter, and cleaning of the carb, tank, and fuel lines.

Yep, I think your needle valve is being held open by crud and the bowl fills to the point of dumping rare fuel into your crankcase. Check the oil level and I'll bet its way overfilled with gas/oil mixed. Do everything the guys have told you. I would even suggest that when you drain the crankcase that you refill once with cheap oil that gets drained again to help flush out the fuel.
