Save a boy who has compulsive overeating disorder
My son who is now 4 year old has compulsive overeating disorder. As a mother, I desperate need help to HELP him as he is still little. Any suggestions will be GREATLY appreciated.

Ever since my little boy started eating table food, he's been having hard time stop eating. It's like he doesn't know when he is full. There were many times he's throw up after having been eating so much. It was so sad for me to see and it's very hard as a month to tell your little child that he can't eat no more while all the other kids in similar age group are having hard time sitting down and eat. Talked to a couple of desperate and they didn't seem to concern much. My son is 4 and a half and weighs 65lb with height of 3"8'. He's height was always on top of the chart but his weight was always over the chart when he had to go to the doctor checking his growth. I can not simply find any brand to buy for his pants due to his big belly. I feel so guilty but I have been trying everyday since he turned one and started having table food. He now also has pretty bad reflux. Poor little thing. I feel like such a bad mom not letting him having the amount he wants and the kind of food he likes (fried food somehow is so appealing to him). At the same time the rest of the family seem to be health if not overly healthy. I always encourage my kids to have water and fat free stuff on top of the low sugar and low sodium choices. Sometimes I feel like I am pushing him to the extreme and he is not even 5 yet. From what I see is that he simply doesn't know when he is full. He'd beg me for having more food. Meanwhile, he is a very active child. What has gone wrong? And does anyone know if there is an effective way to help him. Please help me save my little boy!

First of all, no more fried, fatty, sugary, or otherwise unhealthy foods. Don't even bring them in the house. Lock up the pantry, cabinets, cupboard, and fridge. Only allow him to eat when you eat meals, you are not denying him anything he needs if he gets his 3 squares a day. Don't feel bad about taking away snacks, it's for his own good.

Also, you should DEFINITELY talk to a doctor to see medical reasons behind this problem.

I used to babysit a little girl... I don't know where she put it. Yes, she would get sick and throw up. At first I thought they were starving her.Her mom said the pediatrican said it was from wanting attention. She was the youngest of 3 children. They did not give into her and let her eat everything in site. When she got seconds it was of the veggies, or something that was not as fattening. Also she was to have nothing but healthy snacks and water for in betweens meals. I see her now she is 15 and at a healthy weight.

I agree with Charlotte but want to add that I heard about a year or two ago that there is a gene that tells people when they are full and some people don't have that gene so it might be good to see the doctor and find out what to do for it.
Also they say that it takes 20 minutes for your stomach to feel full so when he has eaten a decent amount at meal time make him wait 20 minutes to see if he is still really all that hungry. Also they say that eating slow helps you feel full faster than eating fast so don't let him glup down his food.
Also the bigger you are the more it takes to make you feel full so he is feeding his weight and has a vicious cycle that only will result in gaining weight unless he learns to eat healthy and cut back.
