Another Eating Disorder?
I had a compulsive eating disorder. I would eat all the time. Some days I would eat from the time I got up to to the time I went to bed. Finishing an entire plate of food was like an accomplishment for me. I had an incredibly low self-esteem, I would cry a lot, my life felt meaningless and useless.
But now I think I've gone downhill in the other direction...
I recently lost 5 lbs in 3 days from not binging. That's when I started to become obsessed with weight loss. I started eating really low cal and getting excersise whenever possible.
I spent all day yesterday in bed, cringing, having to get up and use the bathroom every 5 minutes. So not how I wanted to spend my Saturday. Sadly, all I could think was "it's totally worth it! i wonder how weight i will have lost by tomorrow!"
I'm beginning to enjoy this feeling. I know I should eat something, but I can't. I ate dinner last night with my family and almost barfed it all up afterwards (and not intentionally). What started as "yess! i finally have some self-control for once!" turned into another extreme.
Is this really serious or is it normal? Will it pass soon or should I seek professional help?

You do need somebody to help you get to the root of your emotional extremes and try to eat regular balanced meals. Try taking one vitamin B complex in the morning with breakfast. Sometimes lack of certain B vitamins can cause emotional imbalances. Certain B vitamins can also help increase or stabilize your appetite. Also, when you are in a binge eat all day mood eat slower and limit your portions and wait 20 minutes to decide IF you really NEED another plate of food. They say it can take your stomach 20 minutes to realize it is full. When your are in your eating too little cycle eat small amounts throughout the day so your stomach is tolerating what you put into it. In the meantime work on that good balance and maintaining it.
But a good part of overcoming your eating habits is self control, planned meals and finding somebody that can help you understand why you are doing this so they can help you overcome it.

How long has this gone on for? Food restriction can feel very rewarding in the beginning when you are proud of how much you are NOT eating and how much exercise you are getting. Eventually, most people go back to their old ways of eating too much and not exercising enough. If you continue throwing up then you might become bulimic; otherwise, you might go back to compulsive eating. Either way, it doesn't look good and either way, you seem to have an eating disorder. I agree completely with NoHelp and Selene...
Eating disorders are dangerous and so terribly difficult to deal with! You need to find some PLACE or some ONE that can help you...
This addiction/disorder/disease... whatever you would like to call... it is very different than any other... the difference? We NEED to eat... food is essential... we can't just "quit" or "wean" ourselves off it in order to live a "sober-no-food-life". What you described is common (from what I know) to those of us... (yes, myself) that battle with food and is indicative of going out of balance... those times can seem so innocent to us... we get pumped with "what we've accomplished" and suddenly are back into a full blown Eating Disorder episode... Eating Disorders don't have to fall into one category or another... a lot of us have bitz-n-pieces of them all...
I don't know how old you are and I don't know how long you've battled with Eating Disorders... I am 37 years old and have been battling them my entire life... I want you to know that if you ever want to talk please don't hesitate!. I take my laptop to work with me every day and here at home I rarely have it off... If you're a youngun I don't want you to go this for as long as I did and certainly not alone! If you're not such a youngun... more seasoned, like me ;) Then you and I may be able to "connect" in a way that helps you on your road to recovery.
Hope you got NoHelp and Selene's answers and I hope you get mine!
I will definitely be praying for you!
