Here is how I light the pilot of my gas fireplace:

    1. There is a knob that must first be turned CW; then turned slightly CCW to alow it to be pushed in while pressing the igniter.

    2. Keep holding the knob in until the pilot light remains lit when the knob is released.
WHY? There is a thermocouple that has to heat up before the pilot will remain lighted.

    3. Once the pilot is lit, turn the knob CCW to turn the gas on to the fireplace. If you have a switch to turn the fireplace on, you can do so at this time.

    4. As an alternative, I would check the make and model number of your unit and
See if you can get specific instructions.
