How long is a levy hold?
I got a levy on my bank account on oct. 26th. My funds are still frozen (dec 6th) I thought they were only allowed to hold my account for 21 to 28 days. Why after 41 days is my account still frozen? I called the court and the money that I owed was taken out of my account on the 23rd of November. What can I do to get my acount working again. The bank is giving me the run around and I am tried and this is causing more debt than I had to start with.

    Any help would be great.

Was the money removed from your account sufficient to pay the amount owed?

If so, you need to tell the bank to release the accoiunt immediately or you will take them to court.

They took the money out over 15 days ago. I just got off the phone with the bank and they keep directing me to dead air until I get hung up on. I even tried going to the bank last week and they said there was nothing they could do. I had to go through the main office (ie 800 number)

    This is out of control.

Was the entire amount due taken out ? So you don't owe them any more money? And what is left in the account is over and above the amount that you owe for the hold on your account?

The funds over the amount needed are not suppose to be held from my understanding. You may have to go to the court that has the freeze on the account and get a release showing the debt fully paid and the levy released

If they are holding funds over and above what was needed to satisfy the judgement, then go back to the court and get an order of release.

I would but the court in in Michigan and I am in cali. The only thing I can do is wait until I am at work on Monday and have them fax it to me there. Then I can take it to the bank.
