    Electric codes
 I have a project coming up, a 1940's -1950's block structure, originally a garage then changed into a home, them back to a garage. Now I want to change it back to a home again.

I need to remove all old wiring and outlets and switches etc. I am reframing the interior
Block walls , and running new wiring .

With all the new laws, I was wondering if it is still legal to run romex 12/2 with gr. To all outlets and switches, or does all wiring need to be in conduit

    Thanks Droz:)

What new laws are you referring to?

The National Electric Code is updated and modified every three years. It is not changed entirely, but tweaked, added to, verbage clarified, etc.

When applicable, new wiring methods are added.

    The basics seldom change.

Unless your located somewhere like Chicago, which requires all conduit, as mentioned before, Romex is legal just about anywhere.

You do need to check with your local inspector or building code enforcement office, as each state, city, and town, while they all adopted the NEC, frequently change, add, or otherwise modify, specific sections to suit that area.
