    Toilet bubbled, water disappeared.
    Hello,
Today while my husband was taking a shower after I had taken one, the toilet started bubbling loudly. Then the water disappeared from the bowl. When he finished showering we flushed the toilet and everything seems fine now. Prior to this event we had no plumbing problems. The sink in the bathroom was draining a bit slower recently. We have only one bathroom and our home is on one level, on a cement slab. Our plumbing is relatively new, less than 10 years old. But the house itself is older. We are connected to the city sewer. We have no diy skills and know nothing about plumbing. Should we call a plumber?
    Thanks for your help!

If you don't know anything of plumbing, I'd probably say call a plumber and find out about the line getting snaked or if there is some other problem.

You have a blocked vent. Let me explain. The water draining from the shower set up a vacuum. Normally this would be relieved by the bathroom vent but since the vent's blocked it vented through the toilet trap and the suction pulled the water right out of the bowl. The solution is to snake from the lavatory roof vent. Even if you don't do the job yourself you, at least, know what to tell the plumber when he comes. Good luck, Tom

It could also be that you are in the starting stages of a clogged main line... night want to check that as well
