How can I get off probation.
I was convicted of a 1st time DUI, for driving after having my share of beer playing pool with some friends at a local bar. Anyway, I did everything to fight this because I had prior DUI's from 15 years ago. They gave me a 1st time DUI with suspension of my driver's license, but to my surprise they have giving me 2 years of probation... 2 whole years of random drug testing, and alcohol testing. I'm not an alcoholic, but was told that Ican't even have a beer or a glass of wine. I feel this is quite harsh, I am a successful person with a great career and this is totally effecting my social life as well. I'm on edge 24/7 amd I feel this in a beyond reasonable punishment. Especailly since I have paid my fines, not to mention 4000 dollars in legal fees. Can I get out of this or am I just screwed for the next 2 years of my life. Oh, by the way, supposedly there is no getting off probation early for good behavior. If any one can help with an answer I would greatly apprectiate it. Thanks

How are you screwed for 2 years. You were drunk got charged and now you have probation for 2 years. It is all fair. Why are you so worried about it if you do not have a drinking problem. The best thing is to learn from this experience. Serve your time which should not be a problem for you, right? Why protest? You did the crime and now do the time.

    Your welcome.

Honestly, I realize that I did the crime, I'm willing to do the time and take it like a man, it just seems harsh, that's all. I know of people that have been convicted of several dui's and they only did 3 months of probabtion. I'm just saying that the punishment seems harsh. I refused to blow when I was arrested, I should have because I was not totally drunk, I was stopped simply because it was late at night and I happened to have a HRC sticker on my truck. Living in the south is not a good place to have that on your vehicle. The cops harassed me and I refused to blow, plus I was told never to blow. Anyway, buddy, this is a question answer site... you did not provide me with an answer, just your comment and opionion. Unless you have a valid answer, I do not care for your opinion, but thanks anyway. Peace.

Well you got probation instead of jailtime. Right? You could have went to jail instead of taking probation. Probation is your only option and as far as I know it does not get reduced for good behaviour.

Each land and country the laws are different. This is something you could ask your court or lawyer if you have one. Listen this is a question and answer site. I gave you an answer you did not like, that is not my problem. So peace to you as well.

    Hello smitty:

From MY perspective, 2 years probation ain't harsh for a DUI. Maybe it's because you refused to blow. Bad legal advice can cost you...
