    How dirty girls get clean
    How does one clean a dogs nasty ears? Is it safe to clean them yourself? :confused:

    Next time you are at the vet, have him verify it isn't infected if you haven't. I use about 1 part vinegar in 4 parts water. I start with a cotton ball and get all I can see. Then I switch to Q-tips. With a Lab, you can gently pull the ear back and up and run the full length of the Q-tip in the ear. Keep changing them until they come out fairly clean. Be careful with a smaller dog, their ear canals may not be as long as a Labs.

    I have to do it all the time to my 12 year old Aster. She does get infections sometimes, but the vet says most of it is just excess wax. I have to do her replacement as a dog guide sometimes too. Her one younger half sister has the same problem. This is her eleventh birthday party. The other yellow Lab is her mother. The half sister is in ''Seasonals'' and the biggest black Lab is the current working dog guide.
