    Fuse won't stay in?
    Greetings! I am having trouble with replacing a faulty fuse under my circuit board on my Trane air handler model TWE065E130A1. It is a GMQ 3 2/10 300V Buss fuse. I push it up into the holder and turn but it won't stay?:confused:

    Could be the holder is broken?
    Is it the same physical size fuse?

    Yes same size fuse and I cannot make the original fuse stay in.

    Sure you can as long as the power is turned off. Radio Shack has fuse holders etc.

    Well I was able to keep the fuse in but it immediately blew when I put the thermostat from off to heat with the fan in auto and a warmer temp that actual selected. Do you think it is shorted somewhere?

    Yes there is a obvious short somewhere. That is why they fuse the circuit. If you know the voltage of the fuse socket area you can get a lite bulb of the same voltage and splice it in to the same wires that power the fuse socket. The bulb will lite because of the short circuit but will go out when the short is removed.

    BTW is this fuse in a circuit board?

    Get another fuse the are cheap. Replace the old one make sure the T-stat is off when you turn the power back on move the fan switch to on, if the blower runs turn it to cooling, if the A/C and blower runs, turn the thermostat down as low as it will go and move it to heat move it up a little at a time until the blower kicks on if it runs the short is in the aux heat side. You can bypass the steps above by removing the t-stat cover and jump from r to g, r to y, r to o, r to w. When the fuse blows you found your shorted circuit.
