All right, here it goes.

My wife went to a car dealership and was told that she was approved by the bank and that all she needed to do was pick a car and they would go from there. She did this and they told her that she had to put $500.00 down and the car was hers and the first payment was not due until December. She did this and signed the contract and all that jazz. The day after she had the car the dealership has been calling her and telling her that she needs to send them this and that, which she has done, and telling her that she needs to call the bank and give them this and that, which she has done. The dealership keeps calling her and saying that the bank says that they have not heard anything from her and they are going to repo the car. They call a couple days ago and tell here that the bank backed out of the deal and now they are trying to get another bank to do it and she needs to send this other bank this and that. We have since went to look for another car since they told us they are going to repo this one. We told them that we are trying to get another vech and the new dealership said that they will let us know this week. They told her that if she does not call the bank by today that they are going to report the car as stolen and have her charged with Grand Theft Auto. They also called her mother and told her that her daughter will be going to jail.

Please let me know what is going on and if my wife needs to just take this car and ram it up their lying butts or if they don't have a leg to stand on and are just trying to scare her.

I had once purchased a car that was supposed to be "bank approved" I drove it for three days until I got a call from the dealership saying that the bank in fact did not approve the loan. I would have to bring the car back. I did this and then was talked into a lease.

I would say take the car back and get your money back. If they can't get bank approval they should have never let her leave the lot with the car.

I would also have documentation of everything that you or your wife has done. Showing that she did everything that she was asked to do. If she has names of people she has talked to at the bank that would be helpful.

Assuming she has a copy of the signed contract, they are just blowing smoke. If they do file a theft report on the car, you can turn around and sue them and possibly get the car for free.

However, she cannot keep the car without fulfilling the terms of the deal. If she needs to supply a bank with info, then she has to do so or return the car.
