    Garnishing laws
    I took out a loan in s.c and am currently working in ga. Can they garnish my wages or put me in jail brcause ga has a garnishing law and s.c doesn't.

    They MIGHT be able to garnish your wages. They can't put you in jail.

    A garnishment is about where its been served. So since GA allows them they can get one.

    Debtor's prison went out in the 19th century, no one can be jailed for owing money.

    Why not work out an agreement to pay your debt?
