Felon's in the Home of a Child.
I am a mother of a 6 year old little boy. His father and I are not together and I have been dating a man for the past 3 years that has a couple felonies in his past.

Can my son's father take the child away from me just because I chose to be with a person like this?

My boyfriend has little felonies like a DUI (but hasent drank since January of 2007) and a drug past (hasent used since 2005).

Is it possible to lose my child because of someone's past record?

P.S. I have no record and have never been in trouble.

You know, Kymm, I wouldn't chance living with a man with a record of DUI and drugs if it meant losing my son. You never know what might happen and you may think he is the nicest person you ever met, but what would it really mean to you if your ex took action because of this\?

    Hello Kymm:

The father would have to prove the boyfriend to be a danger to your child. Having CERTAIN convictions on your record might do that, but just having a record, by itself, won't.

Anyone know how, in GA, to be sure you can evict your 18-year old drug abusing adult son? I am told that merely telling him to leave (done) and changing the locks (done) is not sufficient. Thanks.
