Can I go to a free clinic and ask for full STD screening, and a pap smear?
Will clinics for the uninsured give me a free pelvic exam/pap smear/STD testing? I have two possible Bartholin gland cysts. I need to have them evaluated and would like to get full testing, as I have never had an OB-GYN exam and am in my 20s. Can I just walk in and ask for the exam? Will they be mad that I am asking for so much? I have never been to a free clinic before and am very embarrassed about my financial situation. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

It all depends on where you live. Many are free, yet others are on a sliding fee scale according to your income. You can call and ask them what the fee would be and at that time you can make an appointment.

It is extremely important that you get yearly physicals once you begin having intercourse.

Type board of health and your area in your search engine and you should be able to type std in a search this site on their page and get a list of the std clinics in your area. I am pretty sure the Board of Health still does them even.

The posts above are great advice. Don't be embarrassed to ask the clinic about payment. After all, the clinics are there to help people without insurance. The people there deal with those questions all the time. Never be embarrassed about having questions! Like J_9 said, give them a call and ask about payment. Then, when you go, you can focus on talking to the doctor, instead of being worried about how much you will owe.

I personally use our local health department for many things, they are free for low income and have a sliding fee depending on income.
Each clinic will offer various services, some more than others, glad to see you have an appointment, best bet for anyone, always call and ask your local center what they offer.

Yes, go to plannedparenthood.com and check their clinics near you. Everything is free if you are under 18 and I don't think it costs too much if your over 18.
