I think I need to have my husband committed --- where do I start?
My husband is diagnosed with manic schizophrenia. Lately either he's not taking his meds properly, or something more serious is going on. He acts like he's overdosed; can't speak right (severe slurring of his words); he can't walk or pay attention to any task; can't stay awake, but can't stay asleep either... He's like a severely retarded child - I have to babysit him to make sure he doesn't burn the house down or take the truck for a drive. He has been told he HAS to take these meds, but he can't function while he's on them. I have a full time job (he's on disability), but the way things are going, I'm going to have to quit just to make sure he's safe at home! What can I do?

First of all, this may be a very serious side effect of his meds. What meds is he on and how long has he been on them?

But generally speaking, yes Scott is right. You must contact his doctor.
