    Car won't start
    My impreza turbo won't start.

Happened today leaving after work. All I get is a fast ticking noise. The lights all work as the radio. The more I try to start it the less the ticking sound stays until the car did not make no noise at all trying to start it. Jumped the car with cables an she fired up. Took her home and left her for a while. Tested battery and got 12.4 volts. Car didn't start again, same ticking noise was still there. Its going to be the alternator or starter I think but I'm not sure on which one? Maybe the alternator as the charge in the battery is not enough to spin the starter motor hence the ticking noise??

If the battery is at charge it is probably the starter because you have power in the battery it should start at least, the alternator won't charge, but since you have power your best bet is the starter doesn't seem like its turning

Sounds like a bad battery, to me. Place the old battery on a charger and see if the ammeter cuts back, indicating it's holding a charge. If the old battery is bad, clean battery terminals on a new battery, clean cable connections, apply dielectric compound to terminals and connections, and install. Remember to take the negative battery cable off first and reattach it last.

If the battery is good, this link should help you identify what is wrong:
