    Water heater mag rod
Could you tell how to remove the mag rod from my water heater? That seems to be the odor problem in my household.

To remove the dip rod you will need a rachet to remove the square looking scew on top of heater, dip rod should pull straight up once screw is remove.

Most anodes are hexes rather than squares and a socket will work better if you have a breaker arm for it. If you are in an enclosed room with a ceiling the rod will likely hit the ceiling before you get it out. You can bend it or cut it since it goes in the trash. Installing a new anode may be tricky depending on your clearance.
