    Finding previous court decisions
I live in Ontario and I have ganished someone's wages but was informed they had a previous judgement from another court. How do I find out how much he owes from the previous judgement?

Can't speak for Ontario but in NY State you go to the County Clerk's Office and "run" the person's name - all Judgments that have been filed will appear. (In theory, all judgments should be filed but sometimes this takes some time.)

I would venture a guess that it's similar in Ontario.

In Ontario the courts do not have a province-wide database for checking judgments available to the public.

If you can narrow down the number of courts to those where the judgment was likely entered you could then visit the respective court(s) and do an onsite search. Be advised that there is a $10 fee to view a file you are not a party to and a $1 per page cost for photocopies.

The other option is to have the debtor's credit report pulled since the credit reporting agencies acquire such information from all the civil courts in Ontario. You may need to hire a skip tracer or private investigator to do this. Thereafter, you would know exactly which court the judgment was entered in. The fee for this service could be between $200 - $500.
