    Taking thermostat off the wall
I have a magic stat thermostat that doesn't appear to have any obvious screws. It has a half cover that swings upwards to get at controls. I can jiggle the whole thing a little bit and it moves as a unit, doesn't appear to have a cover that I can remove to get at any inside screws. I need to paint the wall so how do I get this thing off?? Help. Lesley

It has screws under the main thermostat housing try prying upwards. If you cannot get it off just mask around it.
