Gosh, sounds like my issue with the F350. I keep reading that we may need glow plugs, a glow plug relay or a block heater. A friend of mine said she had to keep her 99 plugged in overnight when the temps dropped and she then had no trouble starting it.

. Test the glow plugs on each cylinder.
    . Synthetic engine oil.
    . Block heater.
. Clean battery terminals and connections.
. Ensure both batteries are fully charged, after checking fluid levels.

Txgreasemonkey is right, too. These things and synthetic oil can all be of benefit.

Diesel fumes [ 3 Answers ]

We installed a new furnace in our modular home a year ago. Since it was installed we have a problem with fumes when the furnace is running. The manufacture told me to duct air from under the house to the combustion. The fumes occur just before the blower shuts off. It is a forced air unit.
