    Radiator bangs loudly
The house we recently bought is equipped with very old-fashioned radiators. The heating system is gas operated and seems to work fine. The problem is that one radiator bangs loudly when the heat begins to come up! What can we do to stop this annoying sound? Of course, it happens most frequently in the middle of the night!! Thanks for any help.:)

Sounds like a air in the system if it is a hot water system. Bleed radiator if possible.

If it is a steam system call for service.

Hot water heater bangs [ 4 Answers ]

We just bought a house with a 10yr old 40gal natural gas water heater. When it heats the water it almost sounds like its percolating loudly. I can hear the banging from the second floor. I was told it might be because its over firing. I was just looking for another opinion. Thanks Matt
