So it's official, we have a broken/cracked sewer line
I can't remember who gave me advise (we had the smell coming up from our basement through our vents in the bathrooms). My husband went into the crawl and searched for cracks, etc. in the drain pipes. We started trying to track the smell (it gets stronger after showers and lots of water running) and it seemed to be stronger around the sump. A plumber came out, and after process of elimination... did a dye test that shower the colored water coming back into our sump. The plumber thought that the crack/whatever is somewhere near the house as the water from the shower (separate from the dye test) came back in the sump right away). So, we have a lovely broken/cracked whatever sewer line somewhere in our front yard. The plumber gave us the number of a sewer company (don't have specifics because my husband is the one at home calling, etc. today). Can someone tell us what to expect? What's the process for something like this, and is there a ballpark figure? Thanks in advance... ughh.
