    Odor in bathroom
    Hello,
I just purchased my first home and recently the downstairs (main floor) bathroom has a horrible odor. I read other questions and answers but still am not sure what to do. I used a product to "clear/clean" the toilet and "flush away" the bacteria but the smell is still present. There is no bathtub and the sink works fine. Should we try bleach, use a product or call someone to clean our cesspool?
    Thank you for your help

The odor could likely be from a toilet wax ring that has settled or an open pipe somewhere. Does the toilet move [rock] when you sit on it? Is it worse on a windy day? Is the toilet caulked or grouted to the floor?

Hi thanks everyone who responded. Actually we figured it out. We had not used our bathtub in several months and figured out that the water in the trap was making the odor... thanks anyway! :p
