I hope someone can help! I'm 99% sure the name of this old late 60's early 70's country tearjerker is called "The Deal".
I've been searching on and off for a couple years.

I remember the song being 'spoken'. About a woman at the hospital giving birth. The woman and baby were not doing well. The husband/father prayed to God to take his life instead and let his wife and child live. 'THE DEAL"
At the end of the song you hear the doctor talking over the man lying on the floor saying, "it's too bad he'll never know that both his wife and baby will live.

Surly there's someone out there that remembers this song. With a title like "the deal", you can imagine all the 'deals' that my search engine returns.
