    Riding lawn mower
My 18.5hp 48" cut Murray riding mower will not start.

I have used it all summer with no problem... however, my son used it last week and left it in the 3-day rain storm we had. Now, no luck starting.

I've drained the fuel & put in new fuel. Tried jump starting it. Charged the battery & tried jump starting it. Tried jump starting with the negative on the frame & the positive on the starter... no go. Any hints? I don't understand the electrical chain from the battery to the next link & so on...

When you connected the negative jumper to the frame and the positive cable to the starter, did the engine turn?
The electrical system runs from the battery to the solenoid, ignition switch and starter.

I would suggest measuring the voltage to and from the ignition switch. They don't like rain all that much and probably took a beating from three days of rain. Mowerman and I await your answer to his question.
