Summons for complaint of an open account
    Hello,
Today I received a court summons on behalf of a debt collector. This summons was handed to me without any official seal or a required signature from myself. This debt collector refused to negotiate with me when I had to settle some other accounts after a car accident put me severely behind. Everyone but them were very helpful. This one Portfolio Recovery Assoc. LLC refused to settle for anything less than their overly inflated balance including all of the fees that had been added. Because of this I just could not settle with them. So, now I have received this summons (legal?). I am not sure if this thing is even official. It is stamped instead of signed and there is not court address listed. The summons number is hand written and some of the stamps have bits that are hand written or filled in by hand. Is there any advice you could give me in dealing with this issue? Thank you for your time.

This does not seem to be a legal document. I would contact your county civil court and see if there is a case and date to appear for the company name vs. your name.

Does anyone know what the statue of Limitations are to vacate a judgement. I just found one on my credit report from a company I have no knowledge who this company is. The judgement was made in 2005. I heard that you only have 180 days. Is this true?
