    Seeking answers for angry child
I am have a nine year old who was diagnosed by the pediatrician as add. I am not sure she is ADD. We are going to a psychartist next week. Several times in the past years I have had people in the mental health field I know say they think she may have a mood disorder. She is very angry. Her backtalk and aggression gets worse everyday. We constantly are trying to focused on the positive, spend lots of time with her and have gone out our way to make school and everything else better. Nothing seems to work. It is like she hates me. We discpline by taking away things and grounding her but she just does not seem to care. She throw raging fits. I have been researching mood disorders and bipolar keeps coming up? Which is really scary. The only thing is she does not have real lows(she gets angry but not sad). She struggles with school, is mean to those she loves, struggles with relationships, blames everyone else for everything and takes no responsibility for her own actions. She even is starting not care about the things she used to love like sports. Now she only tries occasionally. She has no regard for others. When she is good she is polite, funny, king and a joy to be around. The only time she is this way is when she is out of her normal routine and doing things she just wants to do. Any ideas?

OMG! ( You will soon know why that was my reaction when reading this)

I am a college student. They say that your twenties you are finding yourself , well I think I am way ahead of my time. As a child I shared the same traits that your child is currently experiencing . I was also diagnosed with ADHD and felt a slight connection with the learning disorder but recently came upon another disorder (more emotional one than anything) It is called Reactive Detachment/Oppositional Defiant Disorder. Please consider this when speaking to your child's doctor. It is a farley new diagnosis but it spoke words about my childhood and even brought me to tears. There are some aspects of this disorder that relate to child bearing and a parent to child relationship but ask yourself if you suffered from post pardon depression after the preganancy which in some cases seems to be one of the reasons. Keep an open mind. Try not to be offended. Remember this is about helping your child and being that your are willing to research and address your child issues demonstrates your commitment as a parent. KUDOS!
