Foul tasting water after new plumbing installed
I remodeled my kitchen a few months ago. Since I was going to have the water off in the kitchen for sometime, and I didn't have shut off valves at my kitchen sink, my son installed one for the hot water and one for the cold. After the water was turned back on, the water tastes foul. I had thought maybe there was some crud in the water pipes that would eventually work it's way out, but it's been several months and the water still tastes bad. You can't even make coffee with it... also, my ice cubes taste bad... even though my refrigerator has a filter that I change 2x a year (as recommended)

Help... I won't even make soup with the water... it's that bad.

See if you can get water as close to the Meter as possible, maybe an outside faucet.
If something got into Water Heater, It would keep diluting. Don't know if draining would help?
Does the Hot and Cold water Taste Bad.
    Maybe Verify Filter.

The first thing I would do is check the water at the meter. Maybe the water enterng the home also tastes foul. Does the water in your bathroom sink taste the same way?

The water in the bathrooms taste fine... it's just the water in the kitchen. I have drained the hot water heater since then since I know that a lot of sediment will get in them and shorten their life... any other suggestions?

There is a lot of information on the net about plastic piping altering the taste of the water. It seems that it will go away in time.

I would replace Filter Assembly. IF filter is for Sink and Ice Cubes.

Re-plumbing a pre-hung door (already installed) [ 2 Answers ]

Several months ago I had a handyman replace a pre-hung entry door leading out to our deck. Last night I noticed a small water stain on the subfloor under one of the pieces of interior casing. I had to remove the casing to find the leak (latch side), and discovered there isn’t anything securing...

Bad tasting water from refrigerator [ 3 Answers ]

I have a one year old GE profile side by side refrigeratotor. Recently the water from the dispenser started to taste bad (like dirt). At first I thought it might be a bad filter so I changed it - no improvement. I then removed the filter (bypassed it) but the water tasted the same. Water from...

Hi there, We live in a condo that is about 1 year old. There are 2 levels to our duplex, one is on ground level, one is below ground. There are 5 other units in the building. We live in Chicago, where the sewers are at street level. Don't know if any of that is important. Anyway, in the last 2...

Kenmore Coldspote dispenses foul tasting water [ 1 Answers ]

The water from my Kenmore Coldspot side-by-side refrigerator tastes and smells like mildew. I used a pipe cleaner to clean the spout (which was pretty nasty) but it didn't help. After the water runs for a bit, the water is fine. But the next day, the water tastes and smells like mildew again. ...

Bad tasting water [ 1 Answers ]

We were having a problem getting hot water because we have a long run from the hot water heater to the kitchen and bathroom. The plumber recommended and installed a recirculating device near the hot water heater. Now the cold water from the taps tastes bad... a very strong taste of plastic.
