    Checking account garnishment
A creditor issued a garnishment on my checking account for $1600.00 on 10/22/07. They deducted $213.00 at that time. Should I close the account? Can they take every deposit I make in that account or are they limited to a certain amount each week, each month?

Do not pull any funds in that account, they will be taken. Call the garnishor to try to work out a repayment.

I do not think you can close the account with a garnishment on it. The bank will send the amount of funds however the garnishment says too. If the garnishment states send us everything in account until garnishment is satisfied that is what they will do. As the other poster stated, I'd contact the person/place who placed the garnishment and talk to them and try to work something out.

    What state are you in?
