Cannot get rid of fleas in apartment and have no pets
I have fleas in my apartment of one month and I cannot get rid of them. I do not own any pets nor has my furniture been exposed to any pets. The office told me the carpet had been replaced prior to my move in and they have not heard any complaints from anyone else. They have been proactive in scheduling professional treatment once a week and have bombed the apartment once. I noticed a signigicant decrease and for a few days, I saw no fleas. However, as of yesterday, I encountered a couple more on me and saw several trapped on glue traps. I have bites all on my legs and I am very irritated. I don't know what my next step should be and if I have grounds for breaking my lease. I also think I may be entitled to receiving another apartment upon asking. Please let me know what I should do. Thanks

Why was the carpet replaced? Had a previous tenant owned one or more flea-infected animals perhaps?? Fleas don't die easily. The eggs and larvae and even the adults could have survived and moved into the new carpet if precautions were not taken, which I'm guessing they weren't.

I would demand a different apartment--a vermin-and-rodent-free one or break my lease with all payments returned.
