    Dial up issues
    Hello,
    I am using the dail up service. Able to rcognise the modem it`s realtek, able to qurrey, getting reply`s but still I am not able to go online. I am able to ping the websites, I have also optimised the browser {internet exploser 6} still not abe to go online.
    What shoul I do? Taking the same LAPTOK to another place works!! Have also checked the dailtone and am uisng the same telephone cord in both the places... still not able to go online at one place.

    Will appriciate technical answers. Thank`s in advance.

    If I am correct, you can use the modem someplace else (different house).
    But can't use it at yours.

    I'll bet dollars to dononts that the location in trouble has the line polarity reversed and the modem cares. Get a telephone tester from Radio Shack. To test the lines like this one: http://doitbest.com/main.aspx?pageid...associate=true

    When the modem dials, does it connect? The switching equipment at my former phone company lost some or all of the digits my modem dialed.
