How can I change my daughters last name?
I was in a relationship when I was 18 and got pregnant. The father was 20, abusive and scared so I was glad he ran away. I married my husband when my daughter was 2 and a half. He is the only father she knows and thinks that he is her biological father. She is now in school and I need to change her name to that of my husbands. There is no name on the birth certificate for the father and I would like to add my husband to that as well... any advice? I would like to keep this simple and inexpensive- I don't mind facing the guy again to get him to sign I just want to do it as quickly and inexpensively as possible. Thanks!

You need to have your husband adopt your daughter. For that you willneed an attorney to prepare the paperwork including the relinquishment of rights for the father.

This shouldn't be too expensive (under $1000). But it's the onlyl way to legally change the birth certificate.
