Hello,
I need to move my main from the bathroom ( to install shower ) into a utility closet with adjoining walls. The only other thing in the room is my instant water heater. The room is about 5 foot x 3 foot. I live in Kentucky and have been calling the building inspector, but he has his own business and hasn't returned the calls in a week. The water heater will be the only other thing in the room.

The main panel is in the bathroom now. I want to move it to a utility room. In Florida where I moved from you could put both water and electric in the same room, but they have to be separated by 6 foot. I do not have 6 foot and I wandered if the was a national code or a Florida code.

Lexington, nice horse racing. The panel never should have been in this room. Is the on demand water heater electric or gas? There was a recent recall of many tankless water heaters all in the 199,000 BTU range.

Dryfly, what exactly is your question, as Donf asks? If is has to do with a main breaker or a panelboard being in a bathroom, Ballanger and labman are correct, it cannot be in that room.

Otherwise please provide more detail.

HEY tkrussell- IF I had a address to send you acopy of a couple pictures that would blow your mind to pieces I would. What it is a couple pictures that I took in a bath roo back in in 92 , When I walked in the bathroom of this rental I spotted it instantly on the oppsit end of the shower was the elect. Panel box, when I called Elect. Inspector he could'nt believe what I said .I had already pulled the main. He came right out but couldn't believe what he was seeing. I took poloried pictures I'd gladly send you copys ,you could use them in your classes. I done a complete change out per codes and it was inspected a and passé. The inspector pulled the renters didn't like to wellthough. I had to start at the meter box to move everything. But now is safe. IF you don't want to send address this way do it by message. F.B.E.

Tkrussell - This weekend I'll go to wallyworld and get one of the camares that is susposed to work on the computer , what you said sounds like a good plan .I thought about that last night when I was posting it to you , they told me on phone they had what I needed F.B.E.
