    What are my rights
I had an affair on my husband and found out I was pregnant with the other man's child. I didn't know what to do. The pregnancy turned out to be high risk and to make a long story short, I left my son from my marriage with my husband and moved in with the father of the child I was expecting. I visited my son regularly throughout the pregnancy, with the exception of the weeks I was in the hospital for preterm labor. I've since had the baby and now I'm in a very complicated situation, as I've yet to divorce my husband and the father of my new baby hates me. Obviously this is a mess of my own making and I deserve whatever nastiness comes my way, but my question is about my rights. What rights do I have to the child from my marriage and what rights do I have with the new baby (his father and I are obviously not married)? Both men hate me and are threatening to make sure I never see my children again and I don't know if my having had an affair is grounds for them to take custody. Obviously I've been a horrible wife but I'm doing the best I can as a mother and I'm terrified I'm going to be paying for my stupidity and selfishness by losing my children.

A past affair will not be so much of an issue with the court, but your overall stability can be.
If you want custody they will want to see things like you have a stable home for your children and a stable income.
