I have been wanting to move to Arizona for about three years now but it never works out.
I am hoping that within the next year or so I am actually able to do it BUT
I have heard that some states like Colorado have banned some dogs like Pit Bulls.
Does anybody know where I can get information on where they are banned?

I also heard that when you drive through a state on your way to the state you want to go to
You are expected to register for a dog license for each state.
Does anybody know anything about that?
I might just have my son and dog fly after I find a place but thought it would be good to know what states have that ban.

The dog licensing in each state you drive through is not true. If you are driving, you just to need to ensure the dog is completely under your control. You may want to bring a soft muzzle with you if someone notices you walking the dog and tells you there is a law in that town that requires a pitbull to wear a muzzle. Usually if you are just passing through, the police don't bother you. Wherever you are living is where the dog needs to be licensed, if licensing is even required in your municipality. Regarding bans, it is more of a county, city, or town, ordinance rather than a full state. I heard a while back that Oklahoma wanted to instill a state ban. I don't know if they managed to get that passed. It is so hard to pinpoint every place. I have tried doing that before. Laws are constantly changing and townships seem to be added to the list every year. I would suggest, if you want to move to Arizona, pinpoint an area that you are interested in and contact the police dept or ASPCA/Humane Society located there. They will be able to tell you without any doubt, what the laws are regarding pitbulls.

As usual RubyPitbull's answer sounds good. One thing I have heard is that Texas requires you to have the rabies certificate with you. Not good if it is packed in a moving van with a bunch of other stuff you may not find for along time.

I know airlines are one of the best sources of info on dog laws at your destination for international flights.

In general, I haven't heard about many hassles except Texas. Good to think ahead and prepare.

As labman said, it's a good idea to have the rabies certificate with you. A tag on the collar is not a bad idea either. And, if you really want to play it safe (and this is probably a necessity if you send the dog on a plane), a health certificate from the vet is a good idea. This is a specific form that has to be done within 48 hours of leaving the state, that says the animal was in good health at the time. This may be more important for exotics, but won't hurt if you are going into/through a state where you may be stopped by the local health inspectors (California and Texas both come to mind).

Ya know, I just assumed that NOhelp has both a license tag & rabies tag on her dog's collar and would leave them on if she was driving through towns. Didn't think she might not. I also assumed that she would make sure that her dog was leashed in the car at all times and when she walks her on the trip, the dog is always "tied" to her so there isn't any chance of losing the dog. We all know what happens when we assume! I like Froggy's suggestion about a health certificate from the vet, even for a drive across country. Just keep it in your glove compartment or hand luggage. Personally, I hate the thought of putting any animal on an airplane. The way these airlines are treating people now, I can only imagine what is happening in the cargo area! Ack!

That is one of the things that I like about this site. Others point out to me that I missed something, but I didn't necessirelly miss it I was focusing on another point leaving other points for others and eventually we have a well rounded bunch of points put together. :)
I have to leave a chain on my dog at all times even in the house cause when somebody opens the door she is GONE! And it is about impossible to catch her until she is exhausted.
I have her license and papers at home because the license has a way of falling off her collar no matter how well I have it attached.

Good point about leaving the leash on in the car. I even have a bracket bolted to the bumper I can snap the leash to.
