    Painting a pool
I am considering painting my in-ground swimming pool. Its 10,000 gal but I have been told that there is risk in emptying it as the water table may cause cracking. Also I'm not sure if I do go ahead what paint to use, I think its never been painted they used diamond white... any help would be welsomed.

Here is some information I found,I do not know what it means,
Maybe one of our members will be able to explain them better.

SELECTING THE PROPER POOL PAINT IS CRUCIAL TO A BEAUTIFUL, LONG LASTING POOL SURFACE

    WATER-BASE

HYDROLON, a water base acrylic enamel designed for fast, easy application on bare concrete or plaster and over old rubber base paint. The unique properties of HYDROLON make it perfect for seasonal commercial application or for use in indoor facilities.

    CHLORINATED RUBBER

PARALON 2, our most popular, gives a high quality, satin finish equal or superior to similar coatings available today. Life expectancy is generally two seasons.

    SYNTHETIC RUBBER

OPTILON, an economical synthetic rubber base swimming pool finish formulated with a quality styrene acrylate polymer resin. OPTILON will meet all of the quality performance expectations of chlorinated rubber base paint. OPTILON will provide a hard durable finish that protects against harsh chemicals, resists algae, and beautifies the pool surface.

These paints can be used on plaster, old bare, sandblasted, or new cured concrete. Also, on pools painted previously with a chlorinated rubber base paint.

    EPOXY

Kelley Technical Coatings also offers two epoxy pool paints.

POXOLON dries to a smooth, bright ceramic-like finish. Because it is non-porous, this coating repels algae growth and resists staining. Two coats are required over primer, and 3-6 days (depending on temperature) is recommended before filling the pool. Life expectancy is generally four to six years.

ZERON is a heavier epoxy formula, requiring only one coat over primer. ZERON is the best pool coating available today, with up to eight years of life expected. These epoxy coatings can be used on any type pool surface after proper preparation.

    EPOXY PRIMERS

Before painting a bare surface with an epoxy pool paint, priming with an epoxy primer is required to provide adequate adhesion capacity. Kelley Technical Coatings manufacturers five types of epoxy primer.

POXOPRIME II is the prime coat for smooth new and old bare concrete or plaster. It is never used over other paint or on metal or fiberglass surfaces--only bare plaster and concrete.

GUNZITE performs the same function only it is heavier to conceal surface texture. This primer would be used as a filler for newly gunited surfaces, or to smooth up a rough textured interior of concrete, plaster, or fiberglass. So, POXOPRIME II for smoother surfaces, and GUNZITE for extra porous or rough surfaces.

Additionally, BONDERITE - for bare aluminum surfaces, #219 STEEL PRIMER - for bare non-galvanized steel, and #220 GALVANIZED STEEL PRIMER - for bare galvanized steel, are manufactured by Kelley Technical Coatings.
